+++ | INTERNET: ABOUT US |
In May of 1990 I was 3 years old. I don't remember a time before Mariah. Some of my earliest memories are of her and her music. In fact, my mom has this story about how whenever I heard MC hit a whistle note I would try to mimic her and just scream at the top of my lungs. I could be in the car, at home, in the store, wherever...it didn't matter. If you heard her tell the story though, I only did it when we were in public. Either way, I was a toddler and I was trying to grasp the vocal wonder I was experiencing. I'm in my mid 20's now and I still can't fully grasp the flawlessness of her voice.
I've supported her for my entire life. She's all I know (I can't let go...nor would I ever want to haha) and I'm happy that I was, in a way, able to grow up with her. I've learned a lot about life from watching her and listening to her speak about her struggles. Her music and her life inspire me and give me strength.
In 2004 I, along with two friends, opened up a message board devoted to her called The Butterfly Room. I take pride in it because it was a very open and unrestricted community that pushed boundaries in the Mariah website community. I also had a website called Forever Mariah, but once TBR became such a popular hub for M fans online, I let the website go and focused my attention onto the forum. The Butterfly Room was open from 2004 through 2010, but unfortunately it was hacked and deleted. At that stage in my life, I wasn't able to maintain it the way I originally had, so ultimately I let it go without an attempt at revival...until now. You can visit the new forum here.
I've watched Mariah transition from an eager young vocalist into a content and ground-breaking musical and vocal legend. This website is representative of a new era in both her career as well as the Lambily and I look forward to continuing to do my part to support Mariah and help her maintain the legacy she's built over the past 25 years. And hey, if I end up having some good, clean, stan-related fun in the process, then so be it!
